The Public Works Commission approved a new rate package for customers on Wednesday that would lower the monthly bills of customers who are served with electric, water, and sewer.

A PWC residential customer living inside the city limits and using 1,000 kilowatt hours of electricity and 6,000 gallons of water would see a monthly decrease on their bill of $. 56.
The decrease comes from the Board eliminating the monthly electric Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) and altering water and sewer rates. An electric customer using 1,000 kilowatt hours will pay $2.40 less than their current electric bill. The average inside city water customer using 6,000 gallons or less would see an increase of $.73 while a sewer customer billed for 6,000 gallons would pay an additional $1.11 per month.

The rate changes were implemented as proposed in the PWC budget adopted by the PWC Board in May. Elimination of the PCA and the approved water and sewer rates will take effect on August 1, 2002.
