April
1, 2003
The
Fayetteville Public Works Commission invites the public to visit the Cape
Fear Botanical Gardens free of charge during the month of April.
The Gardens, located on Hwy 301 North in Fayetteville, is home to the
"At Home in Carolina" Water Wise Demonstration Garden. The Water
Wise Garden is located behind the farmhouse and demonstrates that water
efficient landscaping can be achieved without sacrificing beauty. The
Garden has examples of grass, plants, flowers, mulching and irrigation
techniques that are suitable for our region and climate. The public is
encouraged to visit the Garden and incorporate "water wise"
gardening in their landscaping this spring.
Free admission during April does not apply to groups or tours of the Botanical
Gardens.
From May 1 to September 30, all PWC water customers (residential &
commercial) will be required to follow mandatory watering schedules for
irrigation. Customers with even addresses may water on Monday, Wednesday,
and Saturday; odd addresses may water on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.
For information on the Cape Fear Botanical Gardens hours of operations
contact the garden at 486-0221.
