PWC Celebrates Centennial at March 25 4th Friday Event

The public is invited to join PWC's Centennial Celebration on Friday March 25, at Fayetteville's 4th Friday event.

PWC and participating businesses will commemorate the PWC 100th anniversary, with the following activities taking place in downtown Fayetteville, starting at 7 p.m.

Arts Council - 301 Hay Street
The Fayetteville/Cumberland County Arts Council opens its largest art show of the year, PUBLIC WORKS, featuring over 200 unique works from local artists of all ages. Musical entertainment will be the sound of Scott Joplin played by Dr. Paul F. Wilson and Dr. Larry Arnold. Dr. Arnold and Dr. Gail Morfesis, vocalist, will also perform selections from ragtime and the early half of the 20th Century

Actors depicting prominent historical figures of the early 1900s including Albert Einstein and Teddy Roosevelt will share their history from 100 years ago when PWC was created.

PWC's 100 years of service will be told through historical timelines, artifacts and video and PWC's celebration continues with birthday cake, balloons & PWC mascot: Wally Watt Watcher.

Market House
Fayetteville City Historian, Bruce Daws shares PWC's operation of Fayetteville's historic Market House's in the early 1900s.

Rainbow Room-223 Hay Street
Learn about the "new" Dogwood Trail, including the planting of 100 trees to commemorate PWC's 100th anniversary. Register to win a free Dogwood tree, compliments of PWC; and learn tips on proper tree planting ~ just in time for Arbor Day!

Fascinate U Children's Museum-116 Green Street
In celebration of PWC's 100th anniversary, the museum will feature "Water and Electricity". Activities will include watercolor painting, a human powered light bulb, and experiments with static electricity. The museum is also the former City Hall and home of PWC from 1942-1966. Admission & activities are free.
