Join
PWC on April 30 from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm for "A Litter Free Watershed"
cleanup effort. This second annual event officially kicks off our observance
of National Drinking Water Week (May 1-7).
Several
locations in the Fayetteville/Cumberland County area have been selected
for clean up. These sites were chosen due to the amount of litter that
has accumulated at these locations. The locations can be found in the
box at the right.
As
a community volunteer, you can work in one of these designated locations
or provide your own cleanup site. Either way, the goal of "A Litter
Free Watershed" is to clean up ditches, road shoulders, storm drainage
outfalls, and streams that collect and transport litter into our waterways
and pollute our source water.
Volunteers
will be provided the following items: trash bags, gloves, a water bottle,
a snack item, score card, pencil, and a release of liability form. All
the partnering community leaders would greatly appreciate your support
in helping make Cumberland County, "A Litter Free Watershed."
To
volunteer or to learn more, contact the PWC Watershed Program staff at
(910) 223-4760.
