April 14, 2005 Water
customers for the Fayetteville Public Works Commission will begin watering
schedules for outdoor irrigation on Saturday, May 1. Each
year from May 1 through September 30, all PWC water customers are required
to follow the revised Odd/Even watering schedules as outlined in the City
of Fayettevilles Water Shortage Response Ordinance. Customers
with street addresses ending in an even number (0,2,4,6,8) may water on
Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. If your street address ends in an odd
number (1,3,5,7,9) you may water on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Watering
schedules apply to irrigation systems and other sprinkler devices only.
Watering by hand is allowed on any day of the week. The mandatory schedules
apply only to outdoor watering for grass, shrubbery, trees, flowers and
vegetable gardens. It does not apply to other outdoor water use, such
as washing cars or pressure washing. The
purpose of the watering schedules is to better manage our communitys
water use, prevent high peaks of water use, and take proactive measures
to deal with a future water crisis. Customers are reminded to be water wise and follow mandatory watering schedules; however, they are not required to water on all allowable days.
