On September 1, new rates will be applied to bills
rendered for PWC water and sewer services. These rate changes
are necessary to cover several financial issues impacting our
efforts to provide clean water, safeguard our environment and
meet our area's growing needs. They include:
· The increased number of highway projects
that require PWC to relocate or replace lines in existing DOT
right-of-way.
· Payments on low-interest loans acquired through the
State Loan Program for water and sewer construction projects
that will begin this fiscal year.
· The continuing rise in operating costs at our treatment
plants due to escalating chemical cost and the cost of operating
existing and newly installed equipment.
· The establishment of a Water Rate Stabilization Fund
which will be used to help offset futre cost increases.
The increase for the average inside city customerwill
amount to $1.57 a month for water and $ .76 a month for sanitary
sewer services.
