Dr. Sid Gautam, director of The Center for Entrepreneurship of the Reeves School of Business at Methodist College, announced today that The Fayetteville Public Works Commission is the recipient of the fourth annual "Thank-You" series. The company will be honored with Fayetteville PWC Appreciation Day to be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2005.

The "Thank-You Series" was created to honor local industries for their contributions to the economy, quality of life and future of Cumberland County. The initiative was started in 2002 with Kelly-Springfield Tire Company receiving the inaugural honor. The Center's 28-member advisory board selects the recipient.

Throughout its history, PWC has been an integral part of the community's growth and economic development, as well as a strong supporter of community activities. PWC is a locally, owned and operated utility with a workforce of 550+ dedicated employees. PWC provides electric, water and sanitary sewer services to customers in over half the population of the county.

"The Fayetteville Public Works Commission is observing its 100th anniversary of providing quality utility services to the area." commented Gautam. "We hope the community will join us in celebrating Fayetteville PWC Appreciation Day and honor a fine company who has contributed so much to our community."

Fayetteville PWC Appreciation Day is scheduled for Wednesday, September 28th. Events include a kick-off at 10:30 am at the PWC Operations Center on Old Wilmington Road and will be open to the public. At noon a special luncheon will take place at Methodist College for PWC representatives and invited guests.

At 2pm PWC will be part of a question and answer session with Methodist College students and the general public. Later that day at 5:00 pm a reception will take place at the Fayetteville Chamber office downtown, and the day will conclude with a banquet scheduled for 6:30pm at the Holiday Inn Bordeaux.

Alan Richardson, President and CEO of the American Public Power Association will be the evening's keynote speaker. The banquet is open to the public for 50-dollars a seat or 375 dollars per 8-top table.
