May 1 , 2006 PWC customers are invited to celebrate the wonder of water during National Drinking Water Week on May 7-13. Visitors to the Robert C. Williams Business Center at 201 Hay St. can learn more about our most precious resource at our conservation display. In addition to the free giveaways available throughout the week, customers can also register to win a $100 credit on their PWC bill. Visitors to the building can also enjoy an art display featuring art from local school children. To help raise awareness of water conservation, PWC recently sponsored a county-wide poster contest for students aged 6-14 years old. The first, second, and third place winners from each of the three age groups, along with other entries, will be on display at the Business Center throughout the month of May. To kick off
the week-long celebration, visit the Cape Fear Botanical Garden on Saturday,
May 6th for the annual May
Day/Community Called Earth Day event from 10:00 am-2:00 pm. For more
information, please call the Cape Fear Botanical Garden at (910) 486-0221.
Also on Saturday, there's the 3rd annual Litter
Free Watershed Cleanup scheduled for 9:00 am - 1:00 pm at several
sites around the Fayetteville/Cumberland County area. For more information
or to volunteer, please call the PWC Watershed Office at (910) 223-4760.
