PWC is pleased to offer its customers the opportunity to participate
in a voluntary environmental program called NC GreenPower.
Through this program, customers can purchase blocks of green
power (cleaner energy generated through renewable energy resources
such as wind, solar and organic matter). A customer's tax-deductible
contribution adds that much more green power to North Carolina's
power supply resulting in a healthier environment. Through NC
GreenPower, all renewable energy resources used are located
in our state.
NC GreenPower is an independent, nonprofit organization established
to improve North Carolina's environment through voluntary contributions
toward renewable energy. A landmark program approved by the
N.C. Utilities Commission, NC GreenPower is the first statewide
green energy program in the nation run by a non-profit organization
and supported by all of the state's utilities.
PWC joins nine other North Carolina Municipal Electric Systems
as well as Progress Energy, Duke Energy and the North Carolina
Electric Cooperatives in this commitment to providing cleaner
energy for North Carolina.
For each $4 monthly investment made to NC GreenPower, 100 kilowatt
hours (kWh) of green power will be added to the North Carolina
power grid. Over a year, a customer's investment to add green
energy to our power supply will have the same impact of not
driving a car for 74 days or of planting 150 full-grown trees.
