2026 Storm Preparation Guide Available

As hurricane season begins, PWC is encouraging residents to plan ahead, prepare early, and stay informed by reviewing the newly released 2026 Storm Preparation Guide.

 2026 Storm Preparation Guide

The annual guide serves as a practical resource to help residents prepare for severe weather and understand what to do before, during, and after a storm. While Fayetteville is located more than 100 miles inland, the community remains vulnerable to the impacts of hurricanes, including power outages, flooding, and hazardous conditions.

“PWC’s emergency operations plans are in place and ready to be implemented at a moment’s notice,” said Timothy Bryant, CEO/General Manager of Fayetteville PWC. “We encourage customers to be prepared to care for themselves and their families for at least the first 72 hours following a major storm, as restoration efforts and access to assistance may take time depending on storm conditions.”

PWC’s Storm Preparation Guide includes information on the following:

  • Emergency preparedness and supply kits
  • Flood and road safety
  • Downed power line safety
  • Portable generator safety
  • What to do during a power outage
  • PWC’s service restoration process
  • Outage reporting tools and notifications

The guide also highlights the importance of having plans in place for medical needs, pets, and mobility assistance. Customers who require medical equipment that relies on electricity or water are strongly encouraged to have backup plans and be prepared to relocate if extended outages occur.

PWC reminds residents that safety should always come first during and after storms. Downed power lines should always be treated as energized and dangerous, and flooded roadways should be avoided.

Customers can access the 2026 Storm Preparation Guide, outage information, safety resources, and storm updates through PWC’s Storm Central webpage at www.FayPWC.com/Storm-Central.
