Commercial Grease Trap
The Fayetteville City Council approved a new modified Sewer Use Ordinance (SUO) for the City of Fayetteville on April 28, 2008. One of the goals for these modifications is to prevent sewer blockages and overflows in PWC’s collection system by ensuring the proper pumping and handling of waste from GT’s on PWC’s system.
The following describes some of the major changes, why changes have been made, and outlines PWC’s plan to implement and enforce these new requirements.
The SUO now requires grease pumpers to acquire a permit from PWC to pump grease traps on PWC’s system.
The grease trap pumping frequency is every 60 days. If a customer has reasonable cause for not meeting the compliance deadline they may request a variance in this deadline. Customers may also receive a variance in the pumping frequency if it is determined that their trap does not need to be pumped out every 60 days.
If you have questions regarding these issues or any other SUO requirements please contact the PWC Environmental System Protection Office at (910) 223-4699.
