Commercial Grease Trap FAQ

How often am I required to pump my grease trap?
No less than every 60 days

Can I get a varience to pump my grease trap less frequently than every 60 days?
Yes/maybe. To request a variance that allows a grease trap to be pumped less than every 60 days you must contact PWC’s Environmental System Protection Office at (910) 223-4703. A grease trap inspector will then inspect your grease trap monthly until it can be determined how frequently you should have the grease trap pumped. Once a reasonable frequency has been determined PWC will give the customer a letter of variance stating how frequently the grease trap will have to be pumped.

How do I get a pumper permit.
Contact PWC’s System Protection Office at 910-223-4703.

How do I know if a pumper is properly permitted?
There are several ways PWC makes this information available:

a. Call PWC’s Environmental System Protection Office at (910) 223-4703.
b. Pumpers should be permitted as of August 1, 2008 and PWC will issue decals to go on the outside of the pumping vessel.
