FTCC Offers Water/Utility Line Construction School

Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) partnered with PWC to launch the Water/Sewer Line Construction Course in late summer 2023. The inaugural class produced 10 graduates, and by July 2024, that number had increased to 12.

To date, over 20 students have completed the program, achieving a 60% hire rate, with 12 graduates securing jobs. The course is instructed by a PWC retiree with over 30 years of experience in the Water Construction Department.

This 254-hour, 7-week course, offered through the FTCC Center for Corporate and Industry Training, is designed to equip students with the essential knowledge needed for careers in water and sewer line installation.

Course instruction includes the following:

  • OSHA 10 for Construction
  • Commercial Driver’s License Prep
  • Flagger Training
  • First Aid/AED/CPR Training
  • Confined Space/Trenching/Shoring Training
  • Erosion Control
  • Equipment Operation
  • Water and Sewer Distribution System Basics
