Home Energy Audit – Choose Your Option
PWC offers a no-cost, tiered Home Energy Audit program designed to help customers understand how their home uses energy and identify ways to lower their utility bills. All customers wishing to participate in a PWC Home Energy Audit must begin with the DIY Energy Advisor Assessment and may choose additional options based on their needs.
How the Home Energy Audit Program Works
- Step 1: Complete the DIY Energy Advisor Assessment
- Step 2: Fill out the Home Energy Audit Questionnaire if you have questions.
- Step 3: Request one of the following options:
- Option 1: 30-minute phone consultation (no home visit needed)
- Option 2: 1-hour House Call (account holder must be home)
DIY Energy Advisor Assessment
The first step to participate in PWC’s Home Energy Audit Program is to complete the DIY Energy Advisor Assessment. This step is required before a customer can choose one of the audit options explained below.
The DIY Energy Advisor Assessment offers the following benefits:
- Self-guided: The online assessment is best for customers who want quick insights at their own pace.
- Minimal Time Commitment: It takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete the online assessment.
- Personalized Snapshot of Energy Use: The online assessment provides personalized energy-saving tips based on the customer’s current energy use.
Option 1: DIY Energy Advisor Audit Hybrid (DIY Assessment + 30-Minute Call)
- Best for customers who want expert guidance without a home visit.
- Customers MUST complete the DIY Energy Advisor Assessment before scheduling.
- Available for scheduling Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Option 1 includes the following:
- 30-minute scheduled phone consultation with a PWC Conservation Specialist
- Review of your assessment results
- Personalized energy-saving recommendations
Option 2: PWC Energy Advisor House Call (In-Home Energy Assessment)
- Best for customers who want the most in-depth review.
- Customers MUST complete the DIY Energy Advisor Assessment before scheduling a House Call.
- Customers MUST have an active PWC electric account in good standing.
- Available for scheduling Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Option 2 includes the following:
- 1-hour in-home visit with a PWC Conservation Specialist
- Evaluation of air leaks, insulation, and energy use
- Review of electric usage history
- Customized energy-saving recommendations
- Education on PWC’s Time-of-Use (TOU) rate
Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect from a House Call?
During the 1 hour house call the Conservation Specialist, will check for water or electric meter issues, check for running toilets or faucets, test HVAC system, check temperature of air coming from vents, check air filters, check hot water heater, and inspect attic/crawlspace for obvious issues. Afterwards, you will receive an email with the audit findings and recommendations.
What are the benefits of doing a home energy audit?
- Provides a comprehensive list of efficiency measures that could possibly lower your utility bills and improve your home’s comfort.
- Reveals hidden problems in the home.
- Provides education about PWC’s Time-of-Use (TOU) rate.
- Evaluates your electric usage history.
How can I qualify for this Program?
- Applicant must be PWC residential TOU customer with active electric service in good standing.
- Applicant may be homeowner or renter to participate in this Program.
- Applicant must certify that he or she is the Owner of the Premise OR has authorization from the landlord to participate in Home Energy Audit Program.
- Applicant must be account holder of record at premise where audit takes place.
- Applicant must be present during the audit to accompany PWC representative(s) as they complete home walk-through.
Does PWC offer incentives for efficiency improvements?

*PWC reserves the right to cancel or amend Efficiency Programs at any time. Customers completing efficiency measures must agree to a potential random audit by PWC to verify Program compliance.
