PWC Employee Receives International Recognition

Fayetteville, N.C.- An international trade organization has named a Fayetteville Public Works Commission (PWC) employee, David Ruiz, as the 2025 ISSA Security Professional of the Year. Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) International recognized Ruiz for his contributions to the overall security, risk, and compliance for PWC and protecting ratepayers and PWC from malicious attacks.
“In today’s modern world, cyber threats are constantly evolving and pose significant risks to organizations, especially those in critical infrastructure” said Mark Lawler, Chief Information Officer for Fayetteville PWC. “At PWC, cybersecurity is a top priority for all employees at every level in the organization.”
In addition to the ISSA, David Ruiz is also a member of the Cybersecurity Defense Committee (CDC) for the American Public Power Association (APPA) where he shares and mentors other security professionals, helping the overall critical infrastructure community be more resilient.
