Variable Speed Pool Pump Program
A pool pump is one of the hardest-working pieces of equipment in a backyard pool system, helping circulate water through the filter to keep the pool clean, clear, and ready to enjoy. For homeowners with a pool, upgrading to a variable-speed pool pump can be a smart way to improve efficiency, reduce unnecessary energy use, and help lower the cost of keeping pool water properly circulated.
Traditional single-speed pool pumps often run at one high speed, even when the pool only needs lower-speed circulation for routine filtration. Variable-speed pool pumps can operate at different speeds based on the pool’s needs, allowing the pump to use less energy during lower-demand tasks while still supporting effective water circulation and filtration.
If you are a PWC residential electric customer in good standing and own the home where the pool pump is installed, this incentive program can help make an energy-efficient upgrade more affordable. Approved applicants can receive a $100 bill credit for purchasing and installing a qualifying variable-speed pool pump.
Why Variable-Speed?
Variable-speed pool pumps are designed to:
- Use less electricity during routine pool filtration
- Adjust speed based on different pool operating needs
- Support quieter operation compared to many single-speed pumps
- Help reduce strain on pool equipment by allowing slower, more efficient circulation
An Efficient Upgrade for Pool Owners
Pool pumps can use a significant amount of energy because they may run for several hours each day during pool season. A variable-speed pool pump gives homeowners more control by allowing the pump to run at lower speeds when high-powered circulation is not needed, which can help reduce energy use while still supporting clean, properly filtered water.
When selecting a replacement pump, customers should choose a true variable-speed pool pump that is appropriate for their pool size, plumbing, and filtration needs. Homeowners may also want to consult a qualified pool professional to ensure the pump is compatible with their existing system and installed according to manufacturer instructions.
