Coal Ash Fee

Coal Ash Fee

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission allows Duke Energy to recover their cost of Coal Ash cleanup from its customers and PWC’s portion of the $2 Billion cleanup is estimated to be $60-$70 million. PWC is required to pay this and is using reserve accounts to pay most of the money needed.  The fees charged to PWC customers will be collected through 2024.  Without the reserves, the $2 Coal Ash fee charged to residential customers would be $10.
