ENERGY STAR Dishwasher Incentive Program

ENERGY STAR Dishwasher Infographics-2

Have you ever looked at a sink full of dishes and gotten overwhelmed at the thought of washing them by hand? If you are tired of being the “dishwasher” or if you need a new dishwasher, consider purchasing an ENERGY STAR® certified dishwasher. Not only will you save water but your dishes will be better disinfected.  ENERGY STAR dishwashers have their own built in water heaters, so you can lower the temperature of your home’s water heater to 120° and allow the dishwasher’s booster heater to heat the water to the temperature required to sanitize your dishes. The new ENERGY STAR certified models include several innovations that reduce energy and water consumption and improve performance.

So, put away that sponge!  Buy a new ENERGY STAR dishwasher and start saving on water and electricity usage and earn a $30 bill credit incentive from PWC! Don’t forget, by using your dishwasher during off-peak billing hours, you can save additional money.

Calculate the ENERGY cost of your Dishwasher

Standard-size dishwashers that have earned the ENERGY STAR® label are, on average, 12% more energy efficient than standard models. Select the type of dishwasher you own, and enter the number of loads you dry per week. Categorize the loads by on-peak and off-peak hours.

For added savings, make sure the dishes are scraped clean, run a full load, and use a water saver or quick cycle when appropriate. If you don’t mind drying your dishes or waiting until they air dry, you can turn off the heat dry cycle.
